We Saw YOU

Slow Down, Go Around

Why?

Story:

Hi - I'm Greg

All of us remember that joy as kids in riding our bikes and experiencing that newfound freedom they gave us. That joy still exists for me 50 years later as an adult......

However, I've played the bagpipes at too many roadside memorials for fellow human beings who were killed while enjoying those bike rides.

Too many missing family members.

Too many funerals.

Too many ghost bikes

I have written too many OpEd’s about hit-and-runs and those who were injured or killed while just going for a simple bike ride.

I have personally been hit and could have been killed, by a speeding, distracted parent racing to pick up her child. I’ve been coal-rolled (poison gassed) multiple times. I’ve even been shot at by two men in a car, chasing me on my bike.

I’m lucky to be alive today knowing too many others are injured or dead.

If you've ridden a bike you've experienced the scary impatient revving of engines, close passes at high speed, the honking, the yelling, coal-rolling, or even had objects thrown at you while simply riding to work, for fresh air, for charity, for exercise, or just for fun.

We Saw You is dedicated to those who are now missing from our lives or are injured, and to those wishing to ride without fear of being hurt by drivers.

No one should be hurt or killed for the
want of a bike ride.
No one.....Ever
Yet vulnerable road users are experiencing more, not less, incidents of violence, injuries, and deaths at the hands of drivers.

We are the ones who will stop riding out of fear, we are the ones who will be injured or killed. We are the ones wondering if we may suddenly leave behind a grieving spouse or child. We are the ones enduring the agony and trauma of recovering from injuries.

We are the ones who wonder, every day we ride:

Is this the day? Is this worth the risk?

We are the ones who need a better way to assert ourselves on our mutually shared roadways.

About Us

We Saw YOU’  will take our rights to our roads back.

We will let everyone know drivers are no longer anonymous and their actions have very serious consequences.

We will shift the culture of ‘Get off the road!’ to:

'I’ll be extra careful to “Slow Down and Go Around”

as folks learn cyclists are armed with cameras and are not afraid to shoot video and share it with police, attorneys, and publicly.

If you harass or hurt a Vulnerable Road User:

  • You may be required to go to court.

  • You may be liable for points, fines, and fees.

  • Your insurance rates may go up.

  • Your neighbors may learn of your violent driving.

  • You may become a poor example for your family and children.

  • You may lose your job or even your liberty.

  • You may lose lots of sleep and experience post-traumatic stresses

  • You may feel guilt and shame for the rest of your life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to change the cultural behavior of dangerous drivers by ensuring their violent acts are recorded and shared with law enforcement, attorneys, and media. We work to send a message that our vulnerable road users will be victims no longer.

Comments and endorsements

"The thing I love about this is that there are a lot of infractions that, while considered minor to law enforcement, are important to the vulnerable road user and this provides a great way to enable us to do something about that."
